WHAT IS WITH THE WRITER STRIKEWith the recent writer strike, most recent television shows aren’t that great; how often can they make an “all new” reality T.V. or game show? A weekly study done by Nielsen Media Research shows that, at this point, American Idol is the number three most watched show in households across America, with over 30 million viewers tuning in. Now, though American Idol does hold widespread (and, to me, unexplainable) popularity, what other shows like that can hold a candle to well scripted and plotted shows like CSI, which came in 8th despite the strike.
My personal favorite TV show is The Office. It’s the type of show with just the right amount of humor without getting vulgar like many TV shows such as Saturday Night Live. It’s the type of show a teenager can watch with their parents; both generations will laugh at the jokes, and who wouldn’t want to buy their paper from Dunder Mifflin? Another great show is Heroes. For those who find themselves shamefully turning the Sci-Fi channel, this is a popular show for you. It’s the type of show that has to be watched from beginning to ending or else a lot is missed, and though for some this is a negative, it sure does make you feel smart when you have to fill someone else in.
Now this is where you come in. What are your favorite television shows? Are you more of devoted Scrubs watcher, or do you find yourself screaming, “Deal! Take the deal you moron!”, at the television set? Fill us in on what shows you like and why. Hopefully this strike will end and bring back the good old days of television, but until then, I’ll be waiting for Renaldo Lapuz to launch his hit single “I Am Your Brother”.
